Tips and Tricks with International Travel

Before you go:

  • After booking your stay, download the "World of Hyatt" app on your phone. You can also create an account online by clicking here. Create an account and locate your reservation. This has a ton of functions and interactive maps of the resort to help you navigate during your stay.

  • We recommend a direct flight to and from Punta Cana if possible. Returning to the US without a direct flight requires you to pick up your baggage at your layover, re-check your baggage, and go back through security.

  • 1-3 days before leaving, get an "entry" e-ticket by clicking here. Make sure to complete both the entry and return parts. Take screen shots of your tickets for quick access.

  • We recommend bringing sunscreen and other needed toiletries from home as it is quite expensive to buy at the resorts

  • We recommend getting an international phone and internet plan to ease communication while traveling

  • We recommend bringing $10 - $20 of USD 1 dollar bills for tipping per day you are at the resort (see tipping page below)

  • Book a legitimate shuttle company to drive you to and from the resort ahead of time. You can book by clicking on one of the following companies: Viator, Amstar, Dominican Airport Transport

When At the Resort:

  • Do not drink any tap water. Unlimited bottled water is available and will save any potential stomach problems from arising

  • Spend 5-10 minutes getting acquainted with the map/locations of all bars/restaurants so you can easily navigate the grounds during the day

  • Read the below recommendations about tipping while at the resort to make the most out of your stay

  • We will have a "WhatsApp" group chat that will be updated throughout each day with Hannah and Nic's location for anyone who wants to come hangout or say hi. Please download the app. Click here to get the link and be added to our group chat

When returning:

  • Before leaving the resort, ensure you have your boarding information, boarding passes, and e-ticket saved to your phone. The Internet service can be limited outside the reach of the resort wifi

  • Allow 2 hours for transport, baggage check, and security at the airport. The line is slow and will take longer than you anticipate.

Dress Considerations

For the wedding, we prefer a casual elegance theme. We all deserve to be comfortable on the beach!

Be aware that there is a dress code for some of the nicer restaurants. Please bring clothes accordingly!

Here is the dress code options:

Casual

Bermudas (long shorts or Capri pants), sneakers/tennis shoes and sandals. Ladies must wear a bathing suit wrap or cover-up. No sleeveless shirts for men.

Casual Elegance

Sneakers/tennis shoes or dress sandals, dress shirts with short sleeves or collared shirts. No sleeveless shirts or flip-flops. Long pants required for men.

Beach Casual

Swim trunks, bathing suits and flip-flops accepted.

Formal

Men: long pants and collared shirts; dress shoes. Women: blouses, skirts, slacks or dresses; dress shoes.

Daytime Casual

Bathing suit cover-ups or shorts and tops and sandals required.

Resort Casual

Bermudas (long shorts or Capri pants), sneakers/tennis shoes and sandals. Ladies must wear a bathing suit wrap or cover-up. No sleeveless shirts for men.

Pool Casual

Bathing suits allowed. Cover-up and sandals (or flip flops) preferred.

Tipping Recommendations

  • We recommending bringing $10 - $20 of $1 dollar bills per day you will be at the resort for tipping purposes. There is a heavy tipping culture at these resorts so naturally, tipping will give you better service, perks, and an overall better experience. $1 - $2 per tip is plenty with the currency exchange.

  • Mini fridge contents: Leaving a tip and note with specific requests for items will prompt the cleaning staff to bring those items each day when they clean the rooms

  • Bars: We recommend either tipping $1 with every couple drinks. Alternatively, you can leave a larger tip up front to the bartender and expect to have excellent service (any probably better drinks) the rest of your time at the bar.

  • Restaurants: Leaving a couple dollar tip at the end of your meal helps reinforce great service and likely will result in extra drinks/food brought to you prior to you leaving
